Helena Goossens is a poet and is currently studying philosophy and English at the university of Antwerp. She is Flemish and is based in Antwerp. '18 years of life’ is her first poetry volume. With an interest in English literature and poetry, it seemed natural to start writing. As a child of divorce, victim of sexual assault and an abusive relationship, she approaches poetry as a coping mechanism and combines it with the desire to destroy taboos around harsher subjects. Helena hopes to pursue a career in teaching and writing once her degree is finished.
