Cathy Callahan and her roommates Heather and Julie are launching design careers in New York's fashion industry and soon discover the Mafia is Seventh Avenue's silent partner. Unbeknownst to Cathy, she's working for a firm owned by a notorious Mafioso. Heather's boss shuts down his business because of constant wiseguy shakedowns, and Julie's boss tells her there's nothing wrong with murder. Putting their troubles aside, they party at Studio 54 and take summer shares in the Hamptons, where Cathy meets a Wall Street investment banker who helps launch her eponymous brand of eveningwear that puts her on the cover of Vogue. But when the Mob muscles its way into the business, the girls quickly learn how to handle their up-close and personal Mafia encounters with fortitude, street smarts, and much-needed comic relief.
