The Social Life of Islam

Through an ethnography of Sufi shrines in Lahore, the book examines how they serve as spaces for Islam to deeply enmesh with the social life of diverse urban groups. Connecting urban and religious studies, it explores the minutiae of social interactions in everyday life that make Sufi shrines as a key social, political and religious space.
